Actually, I tried a few months ago, and their authentication API was not all compatible.
We are using OAuth, for security and privacy reasons (you never need to give Yoono your password), and identi.ca does not.

Can you check the Yoono release you are using?
If you are using Yoono add-on in Firefox, release is available in the Add-on Manager, opened from the Tools menu
If you are using Yoono Desktop, just hover your pointer over the 'Yoono' title.

What IM are you using?
Were you using Yoono before release 7.1.5 ?

We haven't heard of any incompatibility so far with these add-ons.

I see you are on a Mac, and I'm unsure about the plugin update process on a Mac. Can you confirm that when you type about:plugins in firefox, the release displayed for the Flash plugin is the good one 10.0 r45?

We've identified a bug with this feature.
To get the update notification, the update tab must not be selected (even when the sidebar is minimized. As a workaround, you may select the Friends tab for instance, and you should get notifications. Thanks for your patience... – Reivax, on March 15, 2010 10:24

Just to make sure, you type "about:yoono" ? (not "yoonoo")

Have you checked that Yoono is not disabled, still in the add-on manager ?

About installation process, this is the only way that is compatible with most linux distributions.

You are correct, source is not available, sorry.

And, no, there is no such restriction to the Firefox extension.
