Facebook Not Updating in Yoono
What do I need to do to get Facebook updates in Youno? The other applications - Twitter, Google Talk, etc. - update regularly, but not Facebook.

Sorry to hear it hasn't fixed your problem Sherry. I assume you have already tried some of the other suggestions here on Get Satisfaction but in case you have not, here are some things to try:
- Remove authorization for Yoono from Facebook at facebook.com (settings>application settings>authorized), remove Facebook from Yoono (via add social network/IM panel). Re-add Facebook in Yoono.
- Another thing to try if that does not work is to create a new firefox profile, install Yoono on it, add facebook, and see if you still observe the problem (sometimes Firefox profiles can become corrupted).
If you try (or have already tried) both of these things and do not see a change, you can help us out by following the instructions here:
http://getsatisfaction.com/yoono/topi...
One other question for you is when you look at your facebook friends list, do you see any that have a strange character in their status? That was one of the issues we fixed but we don't know all the characters that could cause a problem.
Sorry this has not fixed your issue - we really want to solve any and all connection problems and appreciate your help!

Inappropriate?Hello Drew. I'm assuming you already added Facebook but it's not working. My response:
1. go to Facebook.com and Sign Out.
2. Within Yoono, remove the Facebook networks and restart Firefox.
3. Within Yoono, add Facebook back and complete the setup process of that service.
Restart Firefox and let me know if the issue has been resolved.

It "works" when I install it, but then it never updates the facebook feeds or the facebook chat list. -
Inappropriate?and you aren't seeing any error messages?
-
For about 10 minutes, it would do nothing, then I'll get an error message that says "Sorry, Facebook appears to be down. We will automatically reconnect you when it is back up." -
Inappropriate?Drew. I would suggest closing Yoono and going to Facebook.com. Find the Facebook Applications page and remove Yoono from an authorized app so when you relaunch Yoono, you'll have to re-authorize with Facebook.

Inappropriate?I'm having similar problems and have done everything suggested in this thread already..
The 'Friends' tab shows all my friends with their statuses without a problem.
The Updates tab doesn't show anything - apart from tagged photos oddly. Yoono isn't really that useful to me if it can't show status updates as and when they happen.
I’m frustrated.
-
Inappropriate?Xaphod -
We had an outage at our hosting center that was causing some problems for some users. They should be resolved now however. Are you still seeing this issue? -
Inappropriate?Yes I am. I thought it might've been linked to the outage, but I only started using Yoono after you'd posted the 'this should all be resolved' message.
I’m hopeful

-
Inappropriate?Xaphod -
From the looks of it, it seems that you have possibly not authorized Yoono to get updates from your stream - this is exactly what you would see in that case (tagged photos are not part of the same API). Here is what I would suggest if you haven't already tried:
- Remove Facebook from Yoono via clicking on the menu arrow, selecting "Add Social Network/IM", selecting Facebook, then agreeing to remove
- Go to Facebook.com, sign in and then select Settings>Application Settings
- Click the dropdown labeled "Show" and select "Authorized", then in the "Desktop Applications" section see Yoono and click "Edit Settings"
- You should see all three of these checked - in particular the "Access my home and profile stream":
Yoono has permission to:
Access my home and profile stream (Wall)
Access my data even when I'm not using the application
Publish to streams
If it is not checked, you should check it. If you do not see the preference there, let me know what you do see and I will guide you through some additional steps.
Todd -
Inappropriate?Hm. this might be the issue: I only actually get two options.
Yoono has permission to:
Access my data even when I'm not using the application
Publish to streams
Both are checked.
'Access my home and profile stream' is not an option I see.
I've checked through the privacy settings and there isn't anything obvious that'd enable that.
I’m optimistic
-
Inappropriate? Not sure if this extra screen is helpful or not:

When I click Edit settings for any of those I get the same two checkboxes I mentioned earlier. I see no way to allow Yoono to see my wall.
I’m hopeful
-
hmm I guess this should've been posted as a problem rather than a question. -
Inappropriate?Xaphod -
K, looks like somehow the permission dialog you should seen when installing Yoono and connecting Facebook to allow access to your stream was missed. Go ahead and:
- Deselect the two preferences on Facebook.com that you do see
- Remove Facebook from Yoono
- Re-add Facebook to Yoono
When you re-add facebook to Yoono you may initially see the tagged photos load but then you should also see a notification box at the top of the sidebar that asks you to grant permission to access your Facebook stream. Click Authorize and it should take you to a page on Facebook.com where you will need to confirm this. Once you do that, you should see all your updates in the sidebar. Please let us know if this works for you. -
Inappropriate?I've the same problem, but instead of having only 2 options in the Yoono setting, I've only 1: "Publish to streams". I tried to remove the application from facebook, to remove facebook from Yoono toolbar in Firefox, to reinstal Yoono in Firefox, etc. but the result is the same: in the Update tab it doesn't show messages of my friends, only tagged photos.
I did what you suggest Todd, but I didn't see any notification box at the top of the sidebar in Yoono... -
Inappropriate? Thanks for the additional feedback ScorpionGTfx. I'm going to take a deeper look at this issue with our developers and see if we can find the problem. Thanks for your patience.
-
Inappropriate?- Deselect the two preferences on Facebook.com that you do see
- Remove Facebook from Yoono
- Re-add Facebook to Yoono
I did that and haven't seen a notification box; it looks like Yoono isn't asking to see the stream, and therefore I don't have the option to grant it permission.
I’m confident
-
Inappropriate?I also have this problem, can't see any status updates. Seem like yoono isn't being granted enough permisions and i have 0 idea how to give it these permissions.
I’m anxious
-
Inappropriate?Hi there,
Facebook changed the error code they return when the permission to read the stream is missing. Consequently we fail to ask you for the permission. I've just committed the change, so an update to the extension should arrive soon.
In the meantime, you can grant the permission and solve the problem by visiting this URL:
http://bit.ly/pfldC
(don't worry, nothing happens until you click "validate" in that page).

Erwan, I first saw this workaround before I downloaded version 6.1.1. Today I downloaded 6.2 and I still have the same problems as before: Yoono doesn't show my friends (unless I do a search), it doesn't show any updates, and after about 5 minutes, I begin getting the "facebook appears to be down" message.
I have uninstalled/reinstalled and clicked your link. Here is what permissions I have now:
Access my profile stream (wall)
Access my data when I'm not using the app
Publish recent activity to my wall.
Xobni, which does some similar things, has the additional permission to publish to streams, which Yoono doesn't.
The permissions given to Yoono by Facebook seem to be arbitrary, and at no time is there a dialog that asks me what permissions are needed. Xobni on the other hand, installed neatly first try with all needed permissions. Something is being missed in the coordination with Facebook's people, and it is not being addressed by the new updates.
For instance, why didn't the two latest updates include the function of your workaround link? I guess I could overlook this persistent problem, since everything else works. Too bad Facebook is the social networking site I use most. Maybe get together with their people and coordinate??? -
Inappropriate?i see photos on the facebook portion of yoono but not the status updates.. how can I view status updates instead?

-
Inappropriate?Hi Diane - did you try clicking on the link above from Erwan's post already (http://bit.ly/pfldC)? That should allow you to grant Yoono access to your Facebook updates. If you've tried that already and it still isn't working, please let us know!
-
I have tried all your work arounds and Facebook doesn't seem to update past the initial install. I have to keep uninstalling then reinstall to update the status. If I click on the friends list, I have the individual updates, but the update tab, which is my news feed, doesn't update. -
Inappropriate?Yes I just did and after some uninstalling and reinstalling it looks like this is finally working.. thanks for all your hard work. this is a pretty neat tool!!
I’m happy
-
Inappropriate?I've an other problem, maybe similar to the one described in this thread: I don't receive Application Notifications, even if the relative option is checked in the option menu. Maybe it's another facebook app permission to enable?
I’m confident
-
Inappropriate?Hey ScorpionGTfx - I am assuming you mean the various notifications that typically don't appear in your regular facebook stream but in the Facebook notifications area (accessed via the icon in the lower right of Facebook.com)? If so, we don't currently support pulling those into Yoono but it is on our list of to-dos!
Let us know if you were meaning something else. You should see any application related updates that appear in your regular newsfeed in Yoono. -
Glad it's working for you Scorpion! -
Inappropriate?not know how make put yoono of window xp download! cos not work open!!!! please you can make put to my computer download and update!
I’m sadly
-
Please go to Yoono.com and attempt to download from there. Sorry you are having issues. -
Inappropriate?ok so i just got yoono last week, signed up w/ facebook, twitter, and myspace thru it, and everything was fine. now all of a sudden, my gf signed in (just in the browser) to her fb account, and now her acct is all that shows on my yoono sidebar. how can i log out and log back in as myself? It updates her everytime i write something, and she swears she didnt do anything intentionally. Also, the myspace updates seem to stop working, but dont care as much about that since i dont use it as much. please help, any reply would be greatly appreciated.
Sincerely,
ET

Correct. There are very limited instances where the above instructions don't work so in order to help you, the link above which I've posted again are the steps need to resolve this completely. I apologize for our steps not resolving your issue but we are now forced to go through more steps to resolve this.

Greg. We have an update to Yoono coming soon that has many improvements that are mostly targeted at Facebook Updates & connection issues.
It will be here soon. I'm terribly sorry you're having this issue. -
Inappropriate?I am also not able to access my Facebook. I keep receiving the same error message:
"Unable to connect to Facebook. Your Facebook session has expired. To try to reconnect now, click Retry."
When I click Retry, it looks like it will start activiating (I might even get some of the more recently posted stuff) but then it fails again. Typically, within just a minute of being reactivated.
I have checked my Facebook settings and all three are activated.
On the Yoono login page, I make sure to set it is the "keep me logged in" option, but still it keeps failing.
Below is the image of what I keep seeing in my Yoono.
-
Inappropriate?Mark and Greg - would either or both of you be willing to try out a test version of Yoono that has some fixes for Facebook connection problems? Email tpringle at yoono dot com if so. Otherwise, this new version should be available next week. If you are still having problems once you've tried it then we'd love to have you run a special build of the product that will help us diagnose the issue.
-
Inappropriate? If they don't have time to run it, I'd be more than happy to! I've been getting this error message frequently the past week.
I’m always helpful!
-
Inappropriate? We have a new version out (add-on only, desktop coming shortly) that addresses several connectivity issues. It's 6.2.1 and should be available on our website or in the firefox add-ons directory. Please let us know if this resolves the problems you are having. If it doesn't, we'd like to work with you further to help diagnose and fix the problem. Thanks!

I set a new profile, and I am able to run Yoono and other apps that have been having trouble with Facebook... but here's the thing...
That second profile is for a SECOND Facebook ACCOUNT! When I created yet another new profile and attempted to run Yoono with my ORIGINAL Facebook account, I got the same error as before, and I had problems with other apps as well, including Facebook Toolbar. Neither will show updates or my friends.
What I am saying is it is not the browser. It has something to do with the Facebook account itself. ...Does that lead you in any direction, Todd? -

Inappropriate?Restarted Firefox after install and the first thing I got was the error message. I clicked retry and so far, it seems to be working. Normally it will disconnect again within a few minutes but so far it's stayed linked in....
Rats... spoke too soon. Just disconnected.
Back to the drawing board? :)
I’m at a loss...

Inappropriate?I just downloaded Yoono last night and I am facing this same issue since then. Facebook always telling me it appears to be down. I've remove Yoono on Facebook and re-add the whole process but still same issue. :( Believe I am using Yoono 6.2.1 with Firefox 3.5.6.

Okay it seems to work with Yoono 7 after I upgraded. :)
I’m thankful

Hi Bryan. If the issue persists check out this thread for some tips for resolving it. Looks like the upgrade to 7 resolved it which is good!

Hi! Yeah it works after upgrading to 7. :) -
Good! Glad to hear.
