Hello. You can remove the avatars within only a couple of mouse clicks. At the top right hand corner of Yoono's Sidebar, click the upside down triangle to open the contextual menu.
From there, select Options and choose "AIM" or whichever chat software you'd like to remove the avatars from.
On the general tab, click the drop down for avatars and choose "no avatar" That should do the trick.
I've included an image below to show what the options window looks like.
I’m happy

Inappropriate?Thank you for super fast response! Keep up the great work on this awesome addon!
I’m ashamed I didnt look harder

Not a problem. Thanks for the feedback and we'll certainly make it easier to find in future versions. -
Inappropriate?I realized that this option is for AIM but is there one for the Yoono chat?
-
If you have Yoono Chat configured, it should also be available in the options window. -
Inappropriate?Clicking the "no avatar" in the yoono chat options didnt work for me. My chat window still shows the avatar pictures with every instant message.

I've learned you'll have to restart Firefox for the changes to take affect. -
Inappropriate? This option only removes the avatar picture from my friends list but doesnt actually remove it from the IMs chat window. Every message would show the avatar to the left of the user's name which takes up extra sidebar space.

You're correct and that's an issue we need to resolve.
We're actually phasing out Yoono's messaging service to the point where new users won't be able to access it. So it's something that needs to be fixed but I can't guarantee that Yoono will have the Yoono IM Service in the future.
Thanks for bringing this but to our attention. -
Inappropriate?Whats wrong with keeping the Yoono IM's? I would hate to have to sign up for another service when its much nicer to have it already built into Yoono. Thanks for your assistant though.
I’m thankful the dev is friendly

I completely understand your frustration with such a decision. Realistically speaking, it costs us a great deal of development and operating time / cost to have Yoono's IM service running where, realistically, only a tiny percent of our users actually using Yoono's IM service. For Yoono IM to function, both users have to be running Yoono where most of our users just use AIM, MSN or Google Talk so we were supporting a service that only a fraction of our users are using.
At this time, new users that create accounts on Yoono won't see the Yoono chat feature. Users that have at least one friend will see it.
