Why does Yoono keep disconnecting from my social services?
I have Yoono installed in both IE8 & Firefox 3.0.11. In IE8, Yoono stays connected to my social services, but in Firefox it doesn't. Why is that? I've tried reconnecting, uninstalling the service from the sidebar and the social service site, and then starting the process all over again, but nothing fixes the issue. What needs to happen?

Inappropriate?Just a quick question. Are you running both of these at the same time? we've seen issues with services only staying connected to one at a time.
Other than that, I can't confirm why this issue is happening but i"ll bring an engineer in and see what they can contribute to your tests.
-
Inappropriate? No, I originally only installed it in Firefox, and it hasn't been able to connect from the start. I use Facebook, MySpace, Flickr, FriendFeed, and FriendFeed is the only one that will connect in Firefox. The others list an error message saying the connection has timed out. I never run two browsers at the same time. Does that help?
-
It helps me better understand the situation but honestly I have no clue why this is happening beyond simply being a network issue. Of course, the fact that it was working in IE8 confuses me.
I'm going to bring in another engineer to see if we can resolve this. -
Inappropriate?Would you mind updating to version 3.5 of FireFox and Yoono version 6.1 and coming back to me on the status?
-
Inappropriate?Yep, did that the day they both came out. Still not working. the error message I get now is: "The server is not responding. Please try again later." I noticed that when I installed the old version in IE8, a grey transparent pop-up appeared just before Yoono connected, I don't get that same pop-up in firefox, ever. Does that help at all?
I’m confused
-
we'll take care of this. i'm bringing another person on. -
Inappropriate?Same problem here! Just heard of Yoono and wanted to try it out..... Running Vista SP2, Firfox 3.5, and Yoono 6.1
-
Inappropriate?Uilleam & lifeofanomad - do you mind taking a screenshot of what you are seeing - i.e. the specific error dialog you see? You can post it here and it will really help us diagnose the problem. Thanks!
-
Inappropriate?Just added my own similar troubleshoot Q, but since Adam is taking a look at this already, I wanted to add that the disconnects jumped in frequency with the latest version of Yoono (am also using FF 3.5) as well the retry option seems not to do anything (sorry to intrude on this troubleshoot, but thought might speed up the response) much thanks!
-
Hello Zohar. Are you running Yoono 6.1.1? We released it a few days ago and you can check for an update at Yoono.com -
Inappropriate?Yup, I am.
Things seem to have resolved.
Thanks Adam -
Inappropriate? This issue hasn't been resolved for me, even with the new update. I've disabled Yoono for now, switched to Sobees. I'll enable it with the next update, hopefully it will be fixed by then.
I’m frustrated
-
One thing I could think of if you want to give it a try is follow the instructions here: http://getsatisfaction.com/yoono/topi...
At this point the only thing we can do to help you is look at your log files to try to understand what could be happening.
Thanks for your help! -
Inappropriate?I'm having the same issue. Yoono connects to all services just fine but then it disconnects after a while and reconnects after 60 secs. I have sent a log file for review to the support email.
Hope this helps in resolving this issue. -
Inappropriate?I have AIM, Google Talk, and Windows Live Messenger all plugged into my Yoono Friends widget. For a few days now, all three display the same error message: "Unable to connect to

Inappropriate?I LOVE Yoono, but lately Twitter is disconnecting all.the.time. And if I happens as I am trying to tweet, my tweet is lost in limboland. Is something happening, because it's only been in the last week or so that it's been a problem? Thank you.

Inappropriate?I have the same issue as Uilleam, my setup is facebook, twitter, flickr, imeem and gtalk, only imeem and gtalk work w/o almost immediate disconnect, ,"unable to connect to..." I have FF 3.5.2 and yoono 6.1.1
I’m frustrated
-
Inappropriate?Just installed Yoono today and am experiencing disconnects only on IM services. My original thought was that our proxy server here was killing the connection but I don't know the architecture of the app. It seems that I disconnect after a certain amount of time only when there is no activity occurring in IM. Going to try at home tonight and see what happens with no proxy in the way.
I’m interested

Inappropriate?I am not trying to be a *insert expletive here* but Yoono has more problems than solutions at this point in time. I had nothing but trouble with this program. I do like the "idea" of it however, and I plan to try it again in a year or so, when hopefully all of the kinks have been worked out. Good luck to you...

Appreciate the honest feedback lullacry. Would you mind elaborating a bit on your problems so that we can work on addressing them? Were they connection related? We are constantly working on updating the product so hopefully you'll check us out again sooner than a year from now! Thanks. -
I totally agree with you. It sure seems to be a great concept if you could ever get it to work properly . I only have it on Firefox 3.0 and Face Book. I will not upgrade because the upgrade is not compatable with my Norton. I really hope they find a solution for it, but for now its a useless App. for me -
Inappropriate?I guess I am too new to make judgments about the app but I also like what it promises. Going to give it some time and see what happens.

Inappropriate?Cannot connect to any GTalk, Facebook, MySpace, Twitter or Windows Live.
Newest version of FireFox, reinstalled newest version of Yoono once.
All say "session has expired". If I reload all the information and allow Yoono to connect again to them again; it automatically goes back to the previous message.
I use this service to control my professional networking and would appreciate help and/or a patch for the issues.
I’m disappointed and pretty frustrated.
-
Inappropriate?Am having the same problems with GTalk, Yahoo, and AIM. Facebook and Twitter are fine. Running with Firefox on a Mac. Everything is updated. Have updated and reinstalled once but will try again.
I’m frustrated

Inappropriate? The only social network I'm having trouble with is Facebook... but then they are going through some major upgrades right now. Could that be part of the problem?
It's just weird to be on Facebook in the window, but the sidebar says it can't log on. And when I do manage to get them both to jive, I click on a link in the yoono sidebar and I get the same error message that Uilleam displayed above.
Running Firefox 3.014 on Mac Leopard.
I’m unconcerned but interested in what may be causing it.
-
Is it still causing problems? We just released Yoono 6.2.1 which has some facebook connection fixes integrated. http://yoono.com -
Inappropriate?Installed the new version yesterday, worked with it a while and got the error message -- even after deleting facebook from yoono, unauthorizing, reauthorizing, restarting... bam... 30 seconds later. Error.
THEN... I got home and realized what could be the problem.
My other mac (with yoono installed) was logged in at home. Could it be that they were competing for the "active" status? I made sure I turned off my computer at home this morning before heading to work.
Guess what? No error message.
What are the chances that others have just logged in from other computers their accounts are resident on and don't realize it?
I’m slightly embarrassed, but hey, if my goof helps someone else... :)

It's alright. It's good to know you're enjoying Yoono on two computers and that the issue is resolved for you. -
Inappropriate?Here! Here!
I to have the same issue and is rather annoying. I have been coming and going with yoono! Its a great idea, I just wish things would work at least most of the time!
I am running Windows XP SP3, Just installed it freshly with no other installaitons of yoono.
The error I keep getting is
Unable to connect to Facebook
Your Facebook session has expired
Try to reconnect now, click Retry
I do this several times and keeps coming back with the same error!
I’m frustrated
-
Inappropriate? In the past few days, I have had YM and GTalk disconnect several times throughout the day. Sometimes a single retry reconnects (usually GTalk only, takes longer to reconnect to YM) but at times it will not reconnect for several minutes. When I switch to the YM and GTalk desktop apps, they connect fine.
I am using the Firefox Add-In, in Firefox 3.5.3, running Windows Vista.
I’m frustrated
-
Inappropriate?Same problems here - I keep my facebook and twitter connection, but live messenger and yahoo messenger always disconnect, then when I manually click 'retry' they reconnect. Firefox 3.5, Yoono 6.2, XP. What's up Yoono!?
I’m sooo annoyed

Inappropriate?Same sort of problem for me - facebook will not stay connected for very long in the Yoono sidebar. Session timed out is the main one. Shame because it is a very good firefox addin..

-
Inappropriate?Hi...
(sorry posted as a separate q first)
Okay I am sitting here... next to my husband. I recommended he download this add on as well because I really like it. However...
We are both players of Mafia wars in Facebook... his yoono keeps a good connection to the news/feed updates. Mine works when I install the thing but then says facebook is down all the time. In 24 hours it was only able to connect one other time besides the intial connection. So I uninstalled and reinstalled... same deal. My husband ... no problems. We both use Vista 64 bit... his is home premium edition... mine is business edition.
Is it possible that one of my security programs prevents the access?
He downloaded his add-on about 12 hours after I did...
I think that the add on is great (we are both using firefox 3.5.3) but I just cant understand why I cant maintain connection and my husband can. We use adsl with direct connections plugged into both computers. Any other info you need... just holler...
I know this question is in progress through other users with the same problem but as I have this to add with my partner here beside me.. I wanted the post included...
many thanks

I’m paranoid... yoono is alienating me
-
Okay... after reading some of the other comments... I have asked hubby to disconnect. I am getting some updates now...
This is odd as we have different IP addresses.. does yoono just track the modem?
Anyway... just musings... hope you can fix this as we both enjoy using the yoono -
Hi Xanthia. Thanks for adding this. Connection issues have gone way down as we've had improvements to our application.
how often is it disconnecting? Are you getting any updates at all? -
Inappropriate?Okay... I downloaded it again directly from the site and since then has been connected all the time (last 4hrs). Before I downloaded from firefox add-on assistant.
The disconnection problem was pretty constant... but as soon as my husband logs off... around half an hour goes by then connection and updates.
I think this package is great... I love it when it works. It is too soon for me to tell if it will disconnect me.. but so far so good. I am hopeful and happy...
Thanks so much for replying... I will get back to you if/when it happens again
I’m cautiously optimistic
-
Inappropriate?update....
My partner began using facebook and playing mafia wars.. Yoono on my pc stopped being able to access facebook at all. He logged out.. no change. He shut down his computer... My Yoono is able to connect again.. Could be a coincidence but I really feel that there is something to this....
When he comes back on line... mine will disconnect in favour of his... dont know why... my machine has a static ip... his is random. as I said both are directly cabled to the modem...
Please look into this Adam as I do like to play beside him, but now wish I hadn't shared my finding the program with him....
Thanks..
Xanthia Foxgloves
I’m frustrated but hopeful that Adam can solve it!!
-
Inappropriate?further update...
He stayed off line and shut down... Yoono however only updated the once and has been failing to reconnect to the updates since.
An anomaly about this is that when I comment into the older posts still showing.. it updates facebook and itself, but wont update all the newsfeed/posts. So it is connected on some level even though it says it cant connect to facebook.
Would have liked to get a screen capture for you but am not sure why but it wont capture... -
It would sound that connecting to Yoono via the same IP address is causing this issue. I'll get confirmation to see if that is an issues.
Thank you for the fantastic info and follow up. -
While I check on this, Please follow these instructions on the computer that is not connecting to the services and send your bug report in. Thanks!
http://support.yoono.com/yoono/topics... -
done... sent a series of them (log files)... let me know please -
ok well I have had a reply from the Yoono development team who say that all those reports I sent them (and there were a few) have helped them figure out what is wrong.. and they hope that they can find a solution for their next release. So I guess that is that until the next release.
Many thanks Adam for replying and helping.
Best wishes...

Inappropriate?Same problem with Facebook disconnecting the past week or so, but I don't want to mess with the debug version right this second, so I'm subscribing to this thread so I can find the link again. Thanks.
I’m frustrated
-
Thanks Janettee. Those debug reports help us resolve the issues for future versions. More details on what exactly is happening would also be helpful. Thanks! -
Inappropriate?Yes, i am having the disconnect problem as well. I have to log into twitter every time in order for it to connect...the session times out for some reason...that is a bummer. i hate this issue, this is the biggest issue i see with yoono. I absolutely love yoono, and this puts a real big damper on things.
I’m frustrated
-
Victoria, would you mind helping us resolve these issues by submitting a connection report for us?
Follow this thread would help us out greatly.
http://support.yoono.com/yoono/topics... -
Inappropriate?Okay, also, do u know where do i go to check the version of yoono i am using?
I’m confused
-
If it's within Firefox, please find the "Tools" menu, click on "Add-Ons" and Yoono is under "extensions" tab. The version number is there. -
Inappropriate?I'm having this problem mostly with Yahoo & AIM. They keep disconnecting pretty frequently.... I'm using Firefox 3.5.4 on Linux, if that helps.
-
Hi there. what troubleshooting have you done? I know you're an advanced Yoono user, just wanted to ask. Also, how often is frequently? Every hour? Every day? -
Inappropriate?Hi, Adam.... I haven't done any troubleshooting, since I don't know how I can test a problem like this to narrow down the cause. All I can tell you is, it disconnects perhaps a couple times a day. Twitter disconnects sometimes as well, though not as often.
-
So you're having these issues and audio issues?
Have you done any drastic testing like reinstalling Yoono completely? -
Inappropriate?Hi, Adam.... Yes, I'm having both of those issues. I haven't reinstalled Yoono since I reinstalled my OS in early october. I do have the latest version of Yoono....
-
Have you followed the log file steps outlined below? Does the issue persist? -
Inappropriate?What "log file steps"?
-
These are the steps that help us troubleshoot those issues.
